This is an interesting article and study on how rude behavior can drive up sales for Luxury brands. I was surprised by this at first, however it makes sense. If a salesperson brushes off a customer and has a body language or uses vocalics that are condescending in a luxury store-the customer is willing to buy more products just to show they can. The customer makes these purchases as way to equalize the interaction and “elevate their status” to the salesperson.
Personally, I would still walk away if I felt a salesperson was being rude, regardless of the brand. What would you do in this situation?
