When working in the retail sector, whether as a clerk, salesperson, or manager, you are taught that "the customer is always right". After all, this is a perfect motto for delivering excellent customer service. Every customer likes hearing that they are correct. No customer leaves the store happy if they feel dumb, out of line, or "wrong".
As a retail worker, even if the customer is wrong and you know it, you are taught to treat them like they are right. In the 2 comics above, this is displayed to the furthest extent.
If you have worked in the retail industry before, have you ever done this? Or now that I bring this up, do you think this has been done to you frequently while you are shopping?
Can you think of any appropriate responses/actions that a salesperson can take to make the customer "feel right" while still not doing anything outrageous as these comics. If you try explaining to the customer that they are wrong in a kind and respectful manner, how do you think they will react?
